McCormacks Bay Wetland restoration

This largely neglected wetland has been 'adopted' as another project by the Estuary Trust in 2014. Christchurch City Council as land owners supervise the project and funding has been received from Environment Canterbury Bio-diversity Fund.

.  Planning for this project commenced in 2013 with the first working bee organised in September 2014. The aim of the Trust was to establish a volunteer working groups fromlocal community and to then hand over the project to the community.  On September 25  in 2016 the Estuary Trust was thrilled to be able to hand over the project to local volunteers from the Ferrymead Rotary Club and MtPleasant Residents Association.  With Myles Richardson as the volunteer coordinator. CCC park ranger Matt Rose supervise and guides the volunteers.

Restoration sessions for 2022, every 3rd Sunday of the month from 2 - 4 pm meet at McCormacks Bay. Just look out for CCC park ranger vehicle along McCormacks Bay Road. Tools provided.
