Tarāpuka Black billed gulls are declining and prefer a vegetation free environment for nesting. After last year’s successful trial, resulting in a successful breeding season, we’re keen to go out again to cover the islands with shells!
Wear clothing and footwear that you don’t mind getting muddy, tie up shoes that won’t get stuck in the
mud rather than gumboots will be best.
We’ll provide the sacks and shells followed by a sausage sizzle at the end. The shells are heavy so if you have an old boogy board or something to drag them along you’re welcome to try it out.
Meet on McCormacks Bay Road at 12pm.
